Bernice Vincent was born in Woodstock, Ontario and currently lives and works in London, Ontario. She was a student of the Special Art Program at Beal Technical School in London from 1952-1954. In 1954 she won a scholarship to study at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where she was impressed by the energy of the work of the Mexican muralists and the hand-crafted objects used by the people. She paints her world - the environment around her, the seasons and everyday objects - with acute observation and great care and intensity. Her most recent work combines landscape and abstraction, with brilliant colours and patterning.
