Born and raised i Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Betty Nelson Daniel pursued an education in art. In 1983 Betty began creating her signature mockingbirds, inspired by her love of colour, drama,, and movement. Mockingbirds mimic vestiges of human qualities, capturing the imagination of all who view them.
Betty uses a variety of media and techniques to create her mockingbirds and is always exploring new and unusual materials. A wire armature provides the basic shape for each sculpture. Materials such as leather, feather, ribbon, and other adornments are then layered on to finish each original piece, which is then signed and dated by the artist. Vintage glass beads and unique materials such as deer hair add touch of humour and drama
