Marlies is an artist, living and working in London, ON. Her material of choice is clay and mixed media. Her work includes vessels, sculptures, wall art and some functional pieces and is strongly influenced by nature: its colours, textures and shapes are a never ending source of inspiration.
Marlies’ ceramic pieces are hand-built, carved, textured and impressed with her own stamps. Slips, stains glazes and special pencils are combined to create unique, one-of-a-kind finished pieces. A continuous thread throughout her work is the marriage between shape, colour and texture. Marlies gained her artistic education at London University, U.K. and at Beal Secondary School's art program. She works out of her own studio and at the London Clay Art Centre.
